Scheduling posts

Post limits for each network

How long a post can be, which networks support threads, and how many images or videos each type of post can carry.

Updated

Every network sets its own limits. The composer checks your post against them as you write, so you will see a warning before you schedule rather than a failed post afterwards. This page lists the same limits the composer uses.

Text length and threads

Network Characters per post Threads
X 280 Yes
LinkedIn 3,000 No
LinkedIn Page 3,000 No
Instagram 2,200 No
TikTok 2,200 No
YouTube 100 in the title, 5,000 in the description No
Threads 500 Yes
Facebook 63,206 No
Bluesky 300 Yes

A few networks count characters in their own way, and the composer counts the same way they do:

  • X counts every link as 23 characters however long it is, and counts some characters, such as many emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters, as two.
  • Bluesky counts each emoji as one character, including emoji made of several joined together.

On networks that support threads, each post in the thread has its own limit. See Post a thread.

Images and videos by type of post

Where a network offers more than one type of post, such as Instagram reels and stories, you choose the type in that network's section of the composer.

Rules the composer cannot check

Some limits depend on the file itself: video length, resolution, aspect ratio and file size. These vary by network and change more often than the limits above. Fluxi cannot always check them before publishing, so a post that breaks one fails with the network's reason. See Why did my post fail? for how to fix and retry it.
